I do believe we have filled in our MIM SRC survey which was emailed to everyone of you about a week ago. You might have noticed the “volunteering” selection and was wondering what that entailed. It could be anything from old folks home visitations, beach clean ups (imagine the great picnic we could have after!!) to soup kitchen volunteering and even fun activities like the Terry Fox Run which commemorates the fight against cancer. It could also be fun if we design t-shirts to wear when we are out there pitching in to the community and it would be a great method to introduce us here at MIM to the public.
Here’s a quick guide to a soup kitchen activity which we can pitch in to help out. Pertiwi (Pertubuhan Tindakan Wanita Islam) has written a detailed description of the activity which is easily understandable for all. Do take a moment to have a read through and let us know should you be interested to take part. No compulsion on our part (as it is with the sporting activities); it’s an open invitation to be a part of something that comes from the heart.
Let’s make this year a year about sharing our energy with those who are less fortunate than we are. We may not be able to donate generous sums of money, but we may be able to donate some amount of time and knowledge to help these worthwhile causes whenever we can…. and together we CAN make a difference
SRC Committee 2013/2014
We distribute every Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday nights. You may join either one or all if you wish. There’s no need to register, just show up with a smile
Time: 8.30pm to 10.30pm (depending on the menu and the number of volunteers)
Meeting point: NO.142, Jalan Maarof, Bangsar,59000, Kuala Lumpur at 8.30pm (Beside a bungalow shop called Light Focus) Or Behind Tunes Hotel Jalan Sultan Ismail at 9.00 pm
Below are our rendez-vous points in its order.
1.Meeting Point – a.k.a The House (Beside a bungalow shop called Light Focus)
We meet up at 8.30pm at NO.142, Jalan Maarof, Bangsar,59000, Kuala Lumpur.
This is where we prepare the van by loading food, drinks, treats etc and have a short-briefing.
From here volunteers can safely park their cars and car pool with other volunteers to our first distribution point.
2.Distribution Point A- a.k.a Tunes Hotel (you can meet us up here as well)
This is our first distribution point. It is located behind the car park of Tunes Hotel, Jalan Sultan Ismail. If it is your first time, it would be best to convoy with the van from The House
On their own initiative, our recipients will line-up when they see Soup Kitchen van coming.
Volunteers can choose their tasks such as distributing food, drinks, treats, mix drinks, crowd control etc.
The most important thing volunteers must remember is SERVICE WITH A SMILE…. because a smile can go for miles… and a SMILE IS ALSO CHARITY :)….. Help our recipients turn their frown upside down …..
3.Distribution Point B – a.k.a Kotaraya
We would park the van at Mydins carpark, Which is in the surrounded by McDonalds, Starbucks, Nandos.
Here the procedure is the same as the first distribution point.
Volunteers may switch to a different task just for the fun of it.
Usually, we would finish distribution at this juncture. However, in very rare instances, we may not be able to finish distributing and would have to go to a different location. But don’t worry about that now, we’ll cross the bridge when we get there. We’ve done it before.
4.Back to The House.
Volunteers and the van would return to the house to their respective cars.

Safety & Comfort
It is highly recommended that volunteers come as light as possible, because you will need both your hands. Hence, it is recommended that volunteers to be free of handbags & backpacks.
Also please wear comfortable shoes because there will be a lot of standing.
What we do is safe enough that some of our volunteers bring along their infants and young children. The young children that came along learned to appreciate their food better by volunteering and witnessing the difficulty many people have just to get food.
Bottomline. Soup Kitchen is good thing and we’d like others to join in the fun.
Are you ready for an extraordinary teambuilding experience unlike no other? The committee members of the MIM SRC challenges you, our dear members, to make your way through these obstacle courses and emerge victorious!
Each team of 2 to 6 persons will be led inside one of the rooms to solve riddles and puzzles. Each room contains a varying amounts of riddles and puzzles, once you solve the first one it will lead you to another until you finish all of them in sequence. The game is roughly about 70 intellectual and 30 interactive, which requires team work and strategizing. It is a great opportunity for a team to have fun and share some time together. Each one of the room has its own storyline and the Escape Room staff will provide you the briefing before the game starts. In the event that your team cannot finish the game within the 45 minutes, the Escape Room staff will walk you through the rest of the game so you will have a better understanding of how the game works.
This is the very first outing planned for you, and we hope that everyone will have a rockin’ good time! More details will be released as the time draws near
